Big Names Skipping Fancy Farm Speaking This Year

Many of Kentucky’s most prominent elected officials are opting to skip this year’s Fancy Farm political picnic.

Governor Steve Beshear and Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson announced yesterday, that they would skip the picnic. House Speaker Greg Stumbo will speak in Beshear’s place. 

Now, Fancy Farm organizers say U.S. Senator Rand Paul will skip the picnic as well. Kentucky’s other U.S. Senator, Mitch McConnell, has not yet confirmed to speak.

McConnell's PAC Helps Republicans in Effort to Take State House

Kentucky Republicans hoping to win the state House in elections this fall are getting a helping hand from the party’s leader.

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell has used his leadership PAC to dole out at least $54,000 dollars to Republican lawmakers in the last three months.

McConnell typically uses the Bluegrass Committee PAC to help U.S. Senate candidates in his bid to become majority leader. But his focus is now on making sure Kentucky’s two legislative chambers are controlled by Republicans. Currently, the Senate is GOP controlled, but not the House.

McConnell Assails Health Care Law In Rotary Speech

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky repeated his call today for the repeal of President Obama’s federal health care overhaul upheld last month by the Supreme Court.

In a speech to the Louisville Rotary Club, the Senate Republican Leader called the Affordable Health Care Act  “too arrogant and too overreaching.”
