The Orchestral Arcade: Video Games Live

It used to be those Wagner-filled Warner Brothers cartoons and film scores by composers like John Williams that introduced symphonic music to new audiences.  Now video games are taking that role.

The Louisville Orchestra goes into multiplayer mode this weekend with an interactive orchestral performance of music from video games. Part of the contemporary L.O. Wow! Series, the orchestra will play along with guest performers in “Video Games Live!” Saturday evening at The Palace.

Sarah Ioannides Conducts Louisville Orchestra Tonight

Australian conductor Sarah Ioannides will conduct Schwantner From Afar: Fantasy for Guitar and Orchestra for the Louisville Orchestra concert this evening. This afternoon on Byline she spoke with WFPL's Erin Keane about her career in music.

Opera Season Opens with 'Tosca'

The Kentucky Opera opens Puccini’s tragedy “Tosca” this week.  The company will begin its 60th anniversary season with Friday’s gala performance in the Brown Theatre, accompanied by the Louisville Orchestra.

Opera Ends Another Year in the Black

The Kentucky Opera announced today that the organization ended the year with a budget surplus. This is the third season under general director David Roth that the Opera has come out ahead.
