LMPD to Target Violent Crime With New VIPER Unit

Violent crime statistics are on an uptick in Louisville in 2012, and Police Chief Steve Conrad recently announced the formation of a new unit to specifically tackle this growing problem.  The VIPER unit will go after the worst offenders in the city and focus resources on known hot spots.

LMPD Launching Criminal Probe Into Shanklin

The Louisville Metro Police Department is launching a criminal investigation regarding Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin, D-2, and the financial management of her office.

The Public Integrity Unit has been working closely with the internal auditor’s office to determine if a formal probe was necessary. The auditor is examining an upholstery program for ex-offenders that served several of Shanklin's relatives instead.

Former Mayoral Candidate, Conspiracy Theorist Arrested

Former mayoral candidate Connie Marshall was arrested by Louisville Metro Police after allegedly leading officers on a pursuit.

Marshall ran a bizarre campaign for mayor in 2010, but she is better known as a conspiracy theorist who has alleged local and federal officials are harassing her via electronic surveillance.
