Bill Would Allow Public-Private Partnerships For Big Construction Projects

State Rep. Sannie Overly has filed a bill that will allow the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to explore public-private partnerships to help construction projects with big price tags.

The bill doesn't specifically name any projects, but Kentucky currently has multiple instances where the bill could help work start, namely the Brent Spence Bridge in Northern Kentucky and Interstate 69 in western Kentucky.

Overly, a Paris Democrat, said the goal is to help the state have one more avenue to help fund its infrastructure projects.

Clark Bridge Repairs Begin; Rush Hour Delays Likely

Motorists who use the Clark Memorial Bridge will likely endure some rush hour delays as repair work gets underway this week.

Andrea Clifford with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the work will require around-the-clock lane reductions.

"The contractor is allowed two, 30 day segments," Clifford said. "It will be 30 days for one half of the bridge and 30 days for the other half because we’ll be reducing the bridge from four lanes down to two lanes, so we’ll always have one lane going in each direction."

New Milton-Madison Bridge Section To Be Hoisted Today

Crews have begun a second major step in the replacement of the 82 year old Milton-Madison Bridge over the Ohio River.

A 727-foot section of steel truss will be hoisted into place today on temporary piers alongside the existing bridge.

The 2,000 ton section was preassembled on the Kentucky side of the river and is being floated to the site on barges.

Brownsboro Road Section To Be Closed For Ten Days

The summer road maintenance season continues with the closure of a short stretch of Brownsboro Road for ten days starting later this week.

The stretch will be shut down starting Friday evening to allow for interchange improvements.

"This section is commonly known by people in the area as Old Brownsboro Road, and it’s the section between U.S. 42 and Warrington Way," says Andrea Clifford with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
