Poll Shows Major Support for Medical Marijuana in Kentucky

A new poll shows 78 percent of Kentuckians support the legalization of medical marijuana, while others would be fine with widespread legalization. 

The Kentucky Health Issues Poll has conducted polling on a wide array of issues for the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky over the past few months, from a statewide smoking ban to health insurance coverage. 

Its latest poll  shows overwhelming support for medical marijuana in Kentucky. It also shows roughly one in four Kentuckians would be okay with legalizing pot even for recreational use.

Poll: Kentucky Parents Favor Raising Dropout Age

An overwhelming majority of Kentucky parents favor moving the dropout age to 18, a new poll says.

Currently, students can drop out of school at 16 years old with a parent’s permission. But Gov.  Steve Beshear has advocated moving that age to 18.

Poll Shows Increased Support for Statewide Smoking Ban

The majority of Kentuckians — 59 percent — support a statewide smoking ban, says a poll conducted by the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky.

Last year, the poll said for the first time that most Kentuckians supported banning smoking in  public establishments. 

This year, fewer than  38 percent of Kentuckians opposed such a ban. The rest had no opinion.

Healthcare Group Creates Directory to Help Patients Find Support

The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky has released a new online directory of community groups that could provide support for patients and their families.

The foundation lists more than 140 organizations in the directory. Combined, they reach all of Kentucky's 120 counties. The groups aren't healthcare providers, but they can give guidance, referrals and emotional support.
