Yarmuth, Michigan Counterpart Bet Bourbon, Chicken on NCAA Championship Game

U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth and his counterpart from Michigan have wagered bourbon, beer, fried chicken and a deli lunch on the winner of the NCAA national title game between the University of Michigan and the University of Louisville.

Yarmuth (D-Ky.) put up a bottle of Woodford Reserve bourbon and a bucket of KFC against a wager by U.S. Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) of Ann Arbor's Arbor Brewing Company beer and lunch from Zingerman's Deli, a Michigan institution.

Denny Crum on Louisville Cardinals' Titles in the '80s: 'It Was a Beautiful Thing'

The Louisville men's basketball team plays for a national championship tonight—the program's first appearance in the title game since 1986. 

Denny Crum, the coach of the 1986 and 1980 championship teams, is in Atlanta for the Final Four. Naismith Hall of Fame coach retired in 2003. As this year's Cardinals prepare to play Michigan, Crum took a few moments to reflect with WFPL on what championships mean for the university and the city.

Louisville Cardinals to Play for Women's National Championship

The University of Louisville women’s basketball team has joined the men’s program in playing for a NCAA championship this week.

Antonita Slaughter led the fifth-seeded Cards with 18 points as U of L advanced to the title game with a 64-57 comeback victory tonight over number two seed California.

U of L will face Connecticut for the women’s championship Tuesday in New Orleans.  The Huskies defeated Notre Dame in the other national semifinal.
