At the top - Now that the election is on the books, we look at the House and Senate make-up for the 2013 Kentucky General Assembly. And is Ashley Judd serious about making a run for Sen. Mitch McConnell’s seat  in 2014? Kentucky Public Radio’s Kenny Colston has been looking into it and he tells us what he’s learned.

An evening with Edgar Allan Poe, a new women's theater company in town, and 44 Plays for 44 Presidents: WFPL's Erin Keane catches us up on what's new in Louisville's arts scene. Plus, a conversation with Teresa Willis and Alison Huff, the director and producer (respectively) of the Slant Culture Theatre Festival.

At the top - Jefferson County Public Schools are performing worse than nearly 75 percent of Kentucky public school students outside the district, according to new state accountability measures -- including tests, graduation rates and other indicators.  WFPL's Devin Katayama goes over the recent study results with Superintendent Donna Hargens.

The Byline rundown for today:

At the top - Only one proposal for development of the Kentucky Kingdom site is known to have been submitted.  Ed Glasscock, of the team led by Ed Hart, joins us to go over the nuts and bolts of their proposal, review all the numbers, and give a preview of park amenities if their plan is chosen.

The amusement park Kentucky Kingdom has been closed for three years now, representing a significant loss of jobs and tourism revenue.  Attempts to revive the park have failed or been abandoned, and meanwhile the rides and equipment have largely been left to the elements and are not being maintained.

Friday on Byline, WDRB sports reporter Eric Crawford joined us to talk about the upcoming college basketball season, which promises potential great things for Indiana and Kentucky fans: IU, U of L, and UK are ranked 1-2-3 to start the season.

On today’s Byline arts segment, WFPL’s Erin Keane discussed the importance of community partnership and visible mentors for minority dancers in a conversation about the Dance Theatre of Harlem.

She also gave a preview of Savage Rose Classical Theatre’s new Parkside Studio production of “Macbeth,” which has some unorthodox moments.

At the top - LEO Weekly’s Joe Sonka joins us to talk about his cover story on Kentucky Kingdom, the amusement park that has been shuttered for three years now.

The vice presidential debate at Centre College on Thursday night was viewed by millions of television viewers worldwide.  Two of our own reporters - WFPL's Political Editor Phillip M. Bailey and Kentucky Public Radio’s Kenny Colston - were there in person to watch the 90-minute debate between vice president Joe Biden and Republican nominee Paul Ryan. They were also part of the media throng at Centre College for several hours both before and after the debate. Bailey and Colston talked about their experience this past Friday on Byline.
