Louisville looks to have a wet Christmas night -- and maybe snow on Wednesday.

Rain is expected to move into the Louisville area Tuesday evening, and the precipitation would stay until Wednesday evening, said Tom Reaugh, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service. The temperature will drop through Wednesday, which means the rain would transition to snowfall as the day goes on.

You might not expect "Santa's Helper" to be a career-altering gig, but for David Sedaris, it changed everything. The writer and humorist spent a season working at Macy's as a department store elf. He described his short tenure as Crumpet the Elf in "The Santaland Diaries," an essay that he read on Morning Edition in 1992.

Instantly, a classic was born. Sedaris' reading has become an NPR holiday tradition. Click the "Listen" link above to hear Sedaris read his tale.

Stumbo: Short Session Doesn't Allow for Many Drastic Actions

Credit Kentucky Legislative Commission
Greg Stumbo

The Kentucky House speaker doesn't expect the General Assembly to take drastic action in the 2013 legislative session.

That doesn't mean lawmakers won't have much to discuss when they return to Frankfort on Jan. 8.

Pension reform and tax reform are up for discussion.

And don't forget that recurring issue of expanded gambling.

But it's an odd-numbered year, when the General Assembly meets for just 30 days.

That short session will limit lawmakers' activity, House Speaker Greg Stumbo said.

Ten Years After I-AA National Title, WKU President Pleased to Step Up in Class

The Western Kentucky Hilltopper after winning the 2002 Division 1-AA national championship.

Outwardly, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers' 34-14 victory over McNeese State was a cause for big-time celebration for WKU President Gary Ransdell.

The Toppers won the 2002 Division I-AA national championship.

Inwardly, the championship stirred another reaction. The playoffs for the I-AA division -- now known as the Football Championship Subdivision -- had cost WKU money. The first-round playoff game drew just 3,300 people to Bowling Green's Smith Stadium. The title game had no payout.
