Strong "Shocked" At Cards' Progress This Season

University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong says he expected the Cards to improve over last season but he never dreamed that this team would have a 9-0 record and a top-ten national ranking, given the youth of his recruiting classes.

"I’m shocked that we’re this far along, I’ll say that. I am shocked that we’re this far along in our third year. Because, when you look at it, when you get your team to the junior-senior group of guys then that’s when you feel like you’re going to be solid," he said.

Stumbo: Hunting Amendment Should Pass, No Bonds for Pensions

House Speaker Greg Stumbo is predicting a wide margin of victory for the only constitutional amendment on the ballot.

The amendment was proposed by Stumbo and sailed through the General Assembly easily in 2011.

It would put the right to hunt and fish as a permanent right in Kentucky’s Constitution. Stumbo told WHAS radio host Mandy Connell that Tennessee passed the bill by an overwhelming margin and predicts Kentucky to do the same.

“ (Tennessee passed) by about 90 percent, and we’re a lot like Tennessee when it comes to that issue," said Stumbo, a Democrat.

Observers Displeased with Joint McConnell, Reid 60 Minutes Interview

In a joint interview with Democratic Leader Harry Reid and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell that CBS News described as "exasperating," 60 Minutes took on the gridlock in the U.S. Senate.

The piece noted that the Senate was once the chamber of Congress where deals were made, but that in recent years the ability to find common ground has been lost.

Reid said that compromise is not something the Senate does anyone, highlighting McConnell’s comment after the 2010 mid-terms, where he said that the chief GOP goal was to limit President Obama to one-term.

McConnell added that the Senate has met the president halfway on a number of bills , but acknowledged the difficulty in forging bipartisan measures.

The producing companies of the Slant Culture Theatre Festival are taking a similar approach: by joining forces for an 11-day festival, they hope to create conditions—and a culture—that are favorable to growth for all of the performers and organizations.
