One of Two Men Implicated in McConnell Recording Starts Legal Fund

Curtis Morrison, one of two Democratic activists implicated in recording a campaign strategy session of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, is starting a legal defense fund.

Morrison tweeted out a link to the gofundme.com page Monday afternoon. The website lists a $10,000 goal.

Morrison does not say whether he was behind the recording.

A top Kentucky Democrat is saying that McConnell's Democratic challenger will be neither of the women.

In a recent interview, House Speaker Greg Stumbo said Judd's candidacy would face an obstacle from her position against mountaintop removal coal mining. In fact, he said her name shouldn't even be in discussion.

Two of Kentucky's highest profile Democrats say they are not interested in taking on U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell in 2014.

Attorney General Jack Conway, who ran for Senate in 2010 against Republican Rand Paul, tells Kentucky Public Radio he isn't interested in running for the chamber again.

“I cannot forsee a scenario where I would run for the Senate in 2014, because I stated on several occasions when I ran for re-election as attorney general that I would finish out that term as attorney general,” he says.
