The University of Louisville football team will play this week for a share of the Big East Conference championship and a likely berth in a top-tier bowl.

The Cards travel to Rutgers Thursday for a nationally televised game.

U of L has lost two straight games after a 9-0 start, but coach Charlie Strong says his players have not lost confidence as they prepare for their regular season finale.

"We know there’s going to be a tough crowd there, it’s going to be a packed crowd for us. But we have to understand, this is for it all, this is for the championship.

University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong brought his team to the downtown Marriott Hotel today to greet a sold-out crowd at the Cards’ annual kickoff luncheon.

There are high expectations for Strong’s third Cardinal team, which is favored by many to win the Big East Conference title.U of L tied for the conference crown last year and earned its second consecutive bowl appearance.

Strong says he wants to bring consistency to a program that has won only seven conference titles going into its 94^thseason.
