Former Louisville TV Anchor Dale Greer Dies At 70

by Rick Howlett on July 30, 2010

Morehead State University’s Dale Greer, assistant professor of radio-television, age 70, passed away Monday.

A two-time graduate of MSU, Greer had been on the faculty since 1982. Prior to that, he had worked for several media organizations including WAVE-TV in Louisville, where he served as a reporter and news anchor for 13 years.

In 1976, Greer, a past president of the Louisville chapter of the MSU Alumni Association, was inducted into MSU’s Alumni Hall of Fame.

In November 2006, Greer was the recipient of the Student Government Association’s “Flying High Award,” which recognizes faculty and staff members that have gone above and beyond the call in their profession.

According to the award, “Greer serves not only in the role of teacher, but works to create friendships with the students he instructs. The veteran professor engages students with diverse and interesting teaching strategies that put emphasis on student opinion that helps them retain the information that he has taught. According to his former students, Greer demonstrates genuine care for student success for each pupil he teaches.”

Greer is survived by his wife, Anita Louise Greer, two daughters, two stepchildren, five grandchildren and one brother.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.

A private service will be conducted on Monday, August 2, in Paris.
