BTW. The reason there is such a difference in health costs between Marijuana and Tobacco is because tobacco is grown with fertilizers that contain Radioactive metals - Polonium - Lead.

"US Surgeon General C Everett Koop stated on national television in 1990 that tobacco radiation is probably responsible for 90% of tobacco-related cancer. Dr RT Ravenholt, former director of World Health Surveys at the Centers for Disease Control, has stated that "Americans are exposed to far more radiation from tobacco smoke than from any other source."

Researchers have induced cancer in animal test subjects that inhaled polonium 210, but were unable to cause cancer through the inhalation of any of the non-radioactive chemical carcinogens found in tobacco.10 The most potent non-radioactive chemical, benzopyrene, exists in cigarettes in amounts sufficient to account for only 1% of the cancer found in smokers."

This will be the same. A lot of money spent enforcing it for no good reason. People will use drugs whether they like it or not. Catching one out of every twenty users is not worth the steep costs of prohibition.

Kids will just move on to the next legal high. Lets just hope it isn't inhalants like it was in the 90's.

This happened during Nam with some of my buddies. They started to crack down on all of the Marijuana and a few guys turned to heroin which is relatively odorless and comes in very small easy to hide containers.

In Canada a study showed that

“In terms of costs per user: tobacco-related health costs are over $800 per user, alcohol-related health costs are much lower at $165 per user, and cannabis-related health costs are the lowest at $20 per user.

On the enforcement side, costs for cannabis are the highest at $328 per user—94% of social costs for cannabis are linked to enforcement. Enforcement costs per user for alcohol are about half those for cannabis ($153), while enforcement costs for tobacco are very low.”

Yep, that alcohol prohibition worked so well, lets do it again. Oh yeah, that marijuana prohibition works so well lets try it with something else. What, K3? K4? Looks like you'll be at this for a while.

If you would bring sanity back to the war on drugs and legalize a substance less harmful than alcohol or tobacco you wouldn't have this stuff around.

Nothing like handing a controlled substance into the uncontrolled distribution system into the hands of criminal gangs. Where's the logic in that?
