Here's the source of the bans, Johnson and Johnson, makers of Chantix, Nicoderm, and other quit smoking drugs. As can be seen, the ACS and the ALA get millions from them to support smoking bans. It's simply marketing strategy.

And where the money is going: Note on page seven, the "inside out" provision promising to return later for the patios AFTER business owners spend thousands to build them for their many smoking customers, clearly showing that they have absolutly no concern about local businesses

I'm surprised the antismoking lobby didn't push harder for the ban with the exemptions in it. That's their usual tactic when they can't get a total ban: push through a partial one, then run to all the businesses that are suffering under it and convince them that their suffering will be less if they can get a total ban. Once they've done that then they have a whole new set of dupes to help them push for the total ban.

Good for Indiana! Glad you stood up to them: watch your economy for the coming year and compare it to any banned states nearby and you'll see the difference. The economic multiplier effects of failed businesses and lost jobs under smoking bans are MUCH stronger than most people realize. Read the research I did a few years ago with Missourian Dave Kuneman at:

http://kuneman.smokersclub.com/economic.html

as well as some of the other studies noted at the bottom of that page and see what you've been saved from!
