Your Answer?

Phil Fulmer.

Proven. Will not see UL as a stepping stone. Will have UL competitive quickly. Can recruit. Proven winner.

UL will compete for the BE year-after-year equals BCS Championship possibilities year-after-year-after-year.

From what I have seen and read, as well as attending the last horrendous game, Kragthorpe didn't have backing of the fans from Day 1 and has had to prove himself amonst many obstacles, including from Jurich. Without any backing, what do you expect? He was doomed before he even started. Plus it takes more than to make a team-- so the downfall of this team is MORE than on him, he wasn't the one out there running the ball or making all the calls... I think the change should have been from the main guy calling the shots- Tom Jurich, who, by the way, USED to be one of Kragthorpe's pals. I guess you find out who your friends are in these times and it will be interesting to see who Jurich now decides can swoop in and "save the day." Good luck to him, I only hope the town of Louisville is more accepting.

And hopefully Kragthorpe will finally get the respect he deserves wherever he ends up.

You compare a culture of debt to Kragthorpe's firing? I think it's honorable that U of L will continue to pay this guy for two years. Paying someone for nothing is worse than, 'have it now pay for it later'! It's 'have it never, pay for it later' that bothers so many Cards fans.

Four years, or in some cases five, is an entire collegiate football career for a player. Kragthorpe had plenty of time to prove he just can't handle the job. Frankly, I don't think any prospective replacement will worry that they won't have enough time or support in turning the program around.

What are you talking about? How many coordinators and assistants did this man burn through? How well did he compete recruiting? How much did our team improve over the course of this year alone (we fought and competed well against a very competitive UK squad on the road early in the season, then lost to Syracuse at home late) ? Patience, he took our 5th ranked Orange Bowl championship program and ran it into the ground, how much deeper was Jurich and us fans going to allow it to go? He did not compete at the division 1 level, in the weakest BCS conference, in a weak year overall!! You must be on another planet to think that this program and our fans were not patient, any glimpse of success or growth would have been supported, he gave us neither.

Memo to Kragthorpe and Roncee:
Three years is not enough to build a program. But it is long enough to see the direction is going. If a coach cannot recruit successfully, then the handwriting is on the wall. With his predecessor's recruits, he managed a 6-6 record (technically bowl eligible, but alas no bowl). As his own recruits began to comprise a higher percentage of the team, he only managed a 5-7 record. This year, with even more of his own kids, the record was even more dismal: 4-8.
Louisville fans would have put up with the mediocre records if they saw *any* success in recruiting.
Kragthorpe is said to be a classy guy, but he refused to accept responsibility for this mess in his farewell address. And now we have Roncee showing off the classiness of his followers by insulting Louisville.
Louisville fans wish both Kragthorpe and Roncee well, but we will not mourn the loss of either.

[He says he doesn’t think three years is enough time to judge a coach’s abilities. ]

Exactly coach. Thank your lucky stars you are getting away from a fair weather sports city. This bush league town doesn't have a clue of what it takes to make a winning program in any sport. If Uof L had no intention of giving a coach time to get things rolling in his fashion, what the hell did they sign him to a five year contract for?
Clue: Changing coaches every three years is not the way to engender confidence in the minds of recruits.
It's, "we want a winner and we want it now!" No different than the "have it now pay for it later" mentality that has so many in debt up to their ears.
